Tony Reyes ws born in Lamesa, Texas and he attended schools in Lamesa and O'Donnell, Texas. O'Donnell is in the same county as Lamesa, Dawson County, Texas. Tony also attended Lubbock Christian College and tthe Gray, Texas Job Corp Center before he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 8th Engineering Battalion of the First Cavalry Division and he also flew in enough aerial missions on helicopters in Vietnam to qualify for his Air Medal. He enjoyed swimming, tennis and baseball. He was killed January 21, 1969 by an explosive device. He is remembered by his community and by the Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial located at the Midland International Airport, Midland, Texas. |
