You left us October 27, 1967 in the Quang Tin Province of South Vietnam.
I escorted you home to your loving family in November of 1967.
Your name is located on panel 28E line 081 of the Vietnam Memorial.
You gave the ultimate sacrifice for your country.
We are all so very proud of you.
Your wonderful family has really grown over the years with nieces and nephews.
Your Mom has sent me many pictures.
Your Mom and I still stay in touch to this day.

God bless you.

Bronze Star with V:

Disregarding his own safety and exposing himself to enemy fire, Specialist Fourth Class Evaristo Martinez III went to the aid of a fellow soldier whereupon he was mortally wounded.

For this act of bravery, Evaristo was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. Evaristo's mother and father were presented this award by Colonel Johnny M. Rice.

A true hero is one who gives his life for another.
