I had the pleasure of visiting the Moving Wall while it was in Anchorage, Alaska last weekend. What a sight... it was beautiful and a very moving experience to say the least. I took my eight year old daughter with me to educate her and to view the wall; we both left without dry eyes. In my 7th grade (I'm 42 now) social studies class our teacher assisted us in ordering POW/MIA bracelets. I was given a bracelet with your name on it. I wore the bracelet till our servicemen and women were brought home, at which time I was saddened to find you would not be returning. It was my intention to give you the bracelet, Richard. Unfortunately and sadly, that was never to be. Even though we never knew each other, I would like you to know how I've never fogotten about you and that I admire and appreciate your courage, bravery and selflessness in the service of our country and helping to make the world (or at least a part of it) a little bit better. Love and kind thoughts to you and your family, Becky McGuire Anchorage, Alaska 9/1/01 Seven men died when a UH-1H (hull number 68-16057) belonging to the 192nd Assault Helicopter Company crashed. Four were the crewmen from the 192nd AHC; the other three were passengers assigned to the 155th AHC: CPT Alfonso Roque Castro, pilot CW2 John Steven Anderson, pilot SP6 Allan Gordon Kennedy, gunner SSG Marion Lee Roach, crew chief SSG Rick Eggburtus Medaris, passenger, 155th AHC SSG John Allen Payne, passenger, 155th AHC SP5 Richard Gene Bauer, passenger, 155th AHC The crash site was located in 1973 and the remains of all seven men were recovered.
