The database page for Don R Shackelford
The story I have been told is of Don's will to serve his country. At a young age he ran away to enlist. He wasn't even old enough, but he did it anyway and thus began his career serving the United States of America where he served in four wars. When he died in Vietnam he was only weeks away from retirement.
From Don's cousins, |
I am honored to have his name, given to me by his brother Jerry Shackelfurd. I hope I honored his memory by joining the U.S. Navy and serving from 1989-1999. He was greatly loved in the Shackelfurd/Ford family and I hear stories about him where ever I go when I visit family. Peace be with you, Uncle Don, and I look forward to meeting you someday.
