It has been 39 years since you left us. I still shed tears when I think of how your life was cut short and that I never got to say good-bye, or tell you that I loved you. You were home for 2 weeks before you left for Vietman in November of 1966. I had 3 hours with you as you had so many friends to see and things to get ready. You promised to see me again before you left. That never happened. You told a friend to say good-bye to me for you. I have your medals and picture on my wall. I have all your slides that you took and your diary. I recently was contacted by someone who was with you when you were killed. It was a blessing that he found me and, reading his letter, did give me understanding of what you did there and what it was like. It also gave me some closure. I thank God for Gene and for his courage to contact me. I would like to hear from anyone else who knew Ken. He was in Co. A, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry "Wolfhounds" stationed near Cu Chi. There is so much I would like to say, but I know that you are in a better place, and someday we will be together again. Time has healed the wounds, but the scars remain.
Good bye, Ken. I love you! |
