He volunteered. A (REAL) hero, who feared no evil. Walked point, did the job that we were too afraid to do.

Years have passed, now even my granddaughters will remember you as family. You will never be forgotten as long as we are alive.

He was drafted in 1968. Volunteered for LRRP (Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol) and feared no evil... He knew what was involved but he did it anyway. Wish I could have been half as brave.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

In the late spring of 1969 AMERICAL Division units were conducting offensive operations in Quang Tin and Quang Nam Provinces, with the 11th Infantry Brigade conducting "a series of combat sweeps and reconnaissance-in-force operations in the Song Tra Cau Valley and surrounding mountains in order to blunt a possible enemy attack upon Duc Pho." On 11 June 1969 elements of the Brigade lost ten men, including three from Echo Company, 4/21st Infantry:
  • 1LT Michael G. Worley, Leicester, NC;
  • SGT Fred J. Zyck, Flemington, NJ; and
  • SP4 Terry F. Drown, Kennebunkport, ME.
